Coming off their lucklaster performance against the Wild on Monday, Colorado will look to rebound as they get set to faceoff in the Saddledome tonight at 9pm EST/6pm PST.

Calgary, as we all know, is a very skilled team. They have gotten great goaltending from Kipper as of late, even though by all accounts he has struggled this season. Of course, the Flames' D is tough as nails. And what else can you say about Iggy - MVP-like year in and year out.

Are they prone to the big play? or being worn down? Well Columbus made some big plays against them and we've seen the Avs play well against Calgary this season. I just Joe can get going and that Ryan finds his head, which might still be plastered on that stanchion. With Forsberg out (as per the Denver Post), Calgary better watch out for Colorado's version of Pirates of the Caribbean - a young kid with a big frame and soft hands: Davey Jones!

The key, as with most teams on most nights, will be to find a way to get Iggy off his game. It's little wonder when teams with superstars lose when the superstar is too consumed by something else...now I'm CERTAINLY NOT suggesting we go cheap shot him...I mean get under his skin a little, a la Sean Avery. Lappy, McLeod, McCormick, Guite...even Foppa.

For Colorado tonight, energy will be the key. The Flames feed off the crowd and if the Avs can take them out of it, they stand a good chance at winning. Another thing that will need to happen if the Avs are to win: score on the Power Play!! It can't be said enough and with all their success this season one can only dream where they'd be if their PP was even marginally effective!!

If Colorado comes out flat like they did against Minnesota the other night, it will be a very long, very Reddy/Orange night in Calgary!

As always: Go Avs Go!

Sakic simply owns the Flames. We have no answer for him, for whatever reason. And that's not a good thing, as the Flames need this game badly, after a truly pathetic road trip. I suspect another Colorado win in Calgary, unfortunately.

Maybe we can push it to overtime again...lol, It seems, RinkLighter, that you and I seem to bring pessimism to every Flames-related post...

Two years of frustration is getting to us Rollins. *chuckles* I'm having trouble seeing anything to be optimistic about with this team. Even if they squeak into the playoffs, I just can't see them going very far. They just don't have "it".

Hey the Flames are up 2-0 in the first. How about that. Anyway, as long as we don't lose a playoff spot to Edmonton or Vancouver...
