IT's DO OR DIE FOR SABRES

Posted 10:18 PM ET | Comments 17
It is very simple for the Sabres right now, they must answer the bell. Time after time we have seen this team struggle. It will only continue. UNLESS, Darcy Regier can get this team back on track. The only way to do that is by making a trade. Why should we stand still? What have we got by standing still? July 1st 2007 was horrible. July 1st 2008 was almost as bad. Last years trade deadline, we were selling in the middle of a playoff run. We have no scucess from this at all. If its not broken you should'nt fix it. Darcy IT'S BROKEN! We must make the playoffs this year and the only way to do so is to be active. No, I don't mean a Richard Park or an Adam Hall. I mean a Jason Arnott or an Olli Jokinen. No I don't mean another European defensman, I mean a Brett Clark or a Derek Morris. Why shouldn't we go for it all, isn't that the objective that we fail at every year. If Darcy Regier isn't thinking "win the cup," then we have many problems. If Darcy Regier thinks he has a Stanley Cup team, he has sadly mistaken. We aren't too too far away. Just a couple good players away from competing. We are on the border. Why settle for nothing! Do something Darcy and see what it will do for you because your system isn't working good enough. Inconsistency continues and now the fans are begining to get impatient. SOS Save our season

I agree, IT IS TIME FOR A TRADE! It is obvious to me that team that currently is on the ice WILL NOT MAKE THE PLAYOFFS. One reason, I think the principal reason they will not make the playoffs is there is NO LEADERSHIP ON THE ICE. They have a great coach in Lindy Ruff - I think he is the best in the league. He can only do so much with the players that he has. Their lack of concentration, dedication and creativity is evident in nearly every game they play. I don't want to pick on any one player, but Teppo, who is supposed to provide leadership for the younger defensemen, often counts the crowd. Lydman, another example of inconsistancy. As far as I'm concerned Max can stay on the Injured Reserve until the Sabres can unload him. Rivet is a disappointment; Ellis a pleasant surprise. I know they are in serious trouble with the injuries to Miller and their top scorer, but they would not be in such deep doo doo if they had played more consistently earlier in the month. They lost chances to catch Montreal and pickup ground on Philadelphia. I predict they will be out of playoff contention within two weeks unless they acquire a few of the motivated players that are now available.

rivet is a disappointment???do you even watch the games?what were you expecting when we got him, bobby orr?he's a nasty defensive Dman ala mckee was, but actually has some offensive talent....

i will agree we need another ass kicker on D though, leopold, witt, morris would all be welcomed......plus a big FW that can score, ala ryan smyth or tkachuk could help us at least solidify a playoff spot

I like Craig Rivet as a leader/player alot.

Unfortunately, I don't get to watch the Sabres often, but I did see the Rangers game. Rivet did not flatten Gomez as he should have when he collided with Miller. Sorry, there's no leadership there! Other teams take liberties with our goalies also because they don't respect the Sabres.

I think we all know Darcy's M.O. by now, no adding salery unless it's cheap or unless the almighty Larry Quinn says it's ok and he won't. Tee time will be coming soon if they do nothing...AGAIN

I would like a banger at winger...Georges Laraque anyone? I think we need a scorer too...Cole, Frolov, Hejduk, Doan, Jokinen...We need a dman I think, but we can do without.

Jokinen, Hejduk, Doan.. just saying.

Jokinen = Olli.. not Jussi.

The Sabres need a heck of a lot more than just a banger and a winger Buffman. This team is so soft on the blue like it should actually make you cringe. They do not play physical and make many mistakes. If there is anything the Sabres need at the trade deadline is back end talent, and not offense. And on Rivet I like him but he is very soft and makes mistakes because of it.

There's a reason Darcy isn't necessarily going to make a big splash at the deadline. This team isn't anywhere near good enough to win a Cup, and it would take far more cap room than he has available to work with to fix that. Nobody's taking Max......we're stuck with him. And we can't keep him on IR once he's healthy, the NHLPA would file a grievance. It's not likely we'll find a ton of value for anybody that we WANT to unload, and the players we'd have to move to make a big deal are guys we need if there is to be a playoff run.Darcy's setting up for next season......Spach, Max, Kotalik, Teppo, and a few others come off the books. He's not going to mortgage the future for a sliver of a chance this season when he can keep the core and the young guys, make a few moves in the offseason to reload, and be ready for a real run in 09-10.http://hockey-sense.today.com/

Damage you are wrong for the main reason. MONEY. GOLISANO and Larry Quinn need to make a profit and the only way to do that is to make the playoffs. Why is it that only the top4 in each conference can compete? That is wrong, any of the top 8 in each can win any series. Also there will be empty seats if no moves are made for the betterbc we arent Toronto. EXPECT BIG THINGS THIS YEAR.

There is nothing great about saying next year bc next year we will be saying the same thing. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
