Many Sabres fans are wondering these days, who if anyone is running (ruining) the Buffalo Sabres team. After another dissapointing free agency period, Buffalo came away with no names worth getting too excited about. Trades can still be possible, in fact I can almost guarantee the Sabres will make a move or two. Probably soon. But for right now, this is the Sabres line up. Next to each player is a description of their style and etc. Please comment on this teams potential and how we stack up against other teams. Other teams fans please also feel free to comment.

Line one: Vanek-goal scoring machine w size Connolly-ppg player when healthy, pure playmaker, softest hands in league, and dangler+ some Pomminville-20-30 goal scorer who can put up 70 and play a good two way game.

Line two: Hecht-two way forward who should put up 20 goals and 20 assist every year and go against other teams best Roy- Speedy center with great vision and is a ppg scorer Stafford-Big power forward who has goal scorers touch and will add 20 goals a year possbily more as he develops more

Line three: MaCarthur-Two way forward with goal scoring potential could produce 20 this year(17 last year on bad line) Kennedy- Finnesse center who continues to develope his sound two way game and also can put up points as a playmaker Paille-checking line winger who will add 15 goals a season.

Line four: Kaleta-agitator that is develping more and more into complete player Gausted-arguably the best 4th line center in the league with his leadership role Mair-quality 4th line winger who can crash and bang.

Extras: Ellis-see Mair + forechecking machine Gerbe- a 5'6 super skating machine who is stronger then people double his size (No Joke) Mancari-potential to be a Rolston esque player with his shot.

Line One: Butler- top four dman who offers a very sound overall game with a great +/- for his age Rivet-Leader and anchor of the blue line (advice don't get near him).

Line Two: Tallinder-former shut down man and now the weak link to the line, can he become the old Hank again? Lydman-will Tallinder stop making Chainshaw look bad, if so he's a top shut down defensive dman w puck moving ability as well.

Line Three: Sekera-capable of logging big minutes with amazing skating and puck moving abilities, could become a our Campbell but one that offers good defense as well. Montador- Like Rivet adds gritt and strength to the blue line, very nice 6th dman on any team.

Extras: Paestch, JoeDi, and Weber--- Paescth is a 7th dman who can really help out as role player JoeDi is also a 7th Dman but more on the defensive side then Paescth, also has a ring and Weber is a defensive dman prospect who might take advantage of making the team this year. He has tons of potential that we all have seen over the last two years.

Myers- Next best dman in the NHL, will help the Sabres for 10 this year and next year he will become a fixture.

Of course and finally goalies: Miller- All-star stud, nuff said Lalime-backup who needs to provide some help when Miller needs a rest, must perform better. But at his best is a Biron like backup.

Enroth-Top 5 goalie prospect in the world, great in Portland, and could make the jump once Lalime's contract is done next year. Could be used as some awsome trade bait, but will also give the Sabres a great one - two tandem like none other in a few years.

Do you think they'll start strong? I bet they do.

Starting strong will be a very important factor to this teams success, to give them confidence early in the season. I hope they do, but it all starts with the first game against Montreal.

The only problem I have is that Hecht is not a second line winger. I would put him as a 3rd liner, maybe a 4th even. He played atrocious last year. With his contract we can only hope he returns to old form. But worst year I have ever seen out of a sabres player last season.

all i see is the same team that finished 10th the last two seasons. furthermore nobody ahead of them has gotten worse and several behind them have gotten better. With the improvements in Toronto we may be the second worst team in our division this year.
