Predictions 3.0

Posted 2:51 AM ET | Comments 7
1st round I was: 6/8
2nd round: 2/4 (I missed the whole western conference)
So far, i'm at 8/12... not bad.

Eastern Conference Finals
2.Pittsburgh VS 6.Philadelphia
WOW! This is going to be a series, whether it's a sweep or goes to Game 7. If the Pens manage to win you have to wonder just how badly they're going to be beaten up before the win and if the Flyers win you have to wonder if they will have used all their luck - Pens in 6.

Western Conference Finals
1.Detroit VS 5.Dallas
I have a feeling we may see Hasek again before this is all over, if Turco keeps playing as good as he's been playing so far; then Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Holmstrom, and Franzen are going to really need to play extraordinary to help the Red Wings move on - Red Wings in 7.

-------------------------------------------------

Stanley Cup Finals
1.Detroit Red Wings
VS
2.Pittsburgh Penguins

No reason to play Hasek when osgood's been doing so well. That series is going to be interesting. I think the Flyers have got it. They're on a roll. They're confident but not over-confident. They came out lazy and overconfident in game 5 but they straightened themselves out and took the series. I think that they can pull it off. It may take all seven but I think they want it more. If they don't get too many penalties called on them (and i say called on them b/c while they do take penalties, pittsburgh no doubt will get some handouts) they should be able to hold it together but that pens PP is deadly with Malkin and Crosby. It's going to be very interesting and definaetly fast paced.

the only way the flyers lose this series is if they get in penalty trouble, the Pens cant win without PP time

I agree with marty. If the flyers can stay out of the box, we should win this series. Stopping Malkin will be key, since Crosby only has 2 goals so far. Flyers in 6Detroit in 6

if it the series ends in 4 or 5 games it'll be the penguins advancing to the stanley cup finals but if it goes to maybe game 6 but definitely game 7 it'll be the flyers playing for the cup. i think.i think the stars will give osgood a bit of a challenge and just like hasek got pulled after two wins by the preds, i think osgood will get pulled by 2 or 3 wins by the stars.

marty, i think its a given that the flyers will get in penalty trouble... it's hard to play 5v7 (add 2 to the pens for the referees) lol jk.. but they'll for sure give the pens pp time

i agree...it's not a "conspiracy"...it's just the fact that star players get calls. We all saw Ovie's spin move first round...any other player (besides crosby) would have been called for diving. Instead it drew a penalty. Not to mention that Crosby is whining to the refs at every stoppage. After a few periods of that I think it would start to influence any body's calls. I would say that penalty troubles are definately a given for the flyers but they've just got to play it the way they did against the Caps PP. Plus, the Pens sloppy point work has been an issue in the past (ie. last time we played them) and we could see some shorthanded breakaways from the flyers (though i doubt that fluery will give up a goal like price did to richards). It's going to be a good one.
