Preds Now and Beyond

I attended all three games and the viewer party in the last couple of weeks and it has been a ball. My wish is that more people in this area get to experience the excitement that was generated not only in the hockey community but to the city in general. The new ownership group looks to be top shelf and I have experienced games in all different sports in arenas around the county and the atmosphere at a Preds game in the regular season, and especially the playoffs, is second to none.

That being said, I'm anticipating that the next step will be taken and we will retain our top defensemen, while looking to add some scoring punch up front. I must admit that I haven't been much of a Trotz guy due to his results in the playoffs, but there wasn't another coach who could have gotten what he got out of this team this year with all the turnover and turmoil. I'd like to give him another chance at it with a full gun instead of a peashooter.

This years draft may be the most important one in the short history of the franchise. The Preds have 4 picks in the first two rounds including the 9th overall. I'm hoping they get a chance at drafting a big Center like Kyle Beach. The Redwings had no fear of any part of the Preds offense which makes it nearly impossible to get any space in the neutral zone. They have the makings of a great defense for years to come with what is on the big club and in the minors.

Finally, I salute both Brandon and Paul for their steller work on the Predators blog. It has been enjoyable to read all their commentary and the comments that were generated. It made for spirited debate. I hope to meet some of you at the Draft Party this year.

Nice blog Music City. A good final statement of the '07/'08 Preds' season end, with an eye towards '08/'09. The beauty of seasons - we get to start all over with fresh ideas and new hope for the future. It's always exciting to me.

Thanks. It really was a wild ride this year. I look forward to the draft and what lies ahead with the free agency period. I"m going for my own full season ticket package for the 1st time after sharing one.
