Stastny Needs Surgery

Posted 6:00 PM ET | Comments 0
After the Avs morning skate it was announced that Paul Stastny would undergo surgery to repair his broken forearm. I am not a doctor but would speculate that this was not a clean break, and several pieces would have to be realigned. None of us know the exact location of the break and won't until he has a nice scar to prove he had surgery. What this does prove is that there could be a longer period that the team is without its young star.

Next on the list to not be playing due to injury is Cody McCormick. He has been playing through a broken foot but was a scratch due to the injury for yesterday's game. He will undergo more tests and x-rays and it will be decided at that point what to do with him. His edge is very useful to this team, and his energy is always missed.

Willsie is said to have skated today, but that doesn't mean he is close. Knee injuries are a tough thing to judge and you can't rush them.

Svatos was back in the line up but was obviously still missing a step. It will take him some time to get back to form. The sooner the better because he can make a difference for the offense of this team.

Sakic continues to rehab and the post reported that he visited the Avs locker room and was in much better spirits than he was after he woke up from surgery.

Tucker seems slow now and may not fully be over his injury. He isn't banging into the opposition nearly as much as he was at the very beginning of the season. At points every team plays through injuries, and Tuckers turn appears to be now.

This season has had its share of injuries. Hopefully we won't be seeing many more.
