I would have thought that after July 1st, the Marleau going to wherever nonsense would have stopped! But apparently some people have not received the memo that he has a no trade clause in his contract that locked him up for the next two years that kicked in on the 1st of the month. I still keep seeing in multiple places people mentioning the idea of Marleau being traded as a salary dump, which is not going to happen.

Now I know there are people out there that will say the team can ask him to waive it, but that is not going to happen! If DW had really wanted to trade Patty, he would have done it by now, and not wait until he has to create a tense situation with the Captain of the team.

Aside from that, I have a feeling Marleau is a key player that McLellan plan on developing a new system around. A fast, up the middle, puck possession team....who does that sound like? Patty? You bet your ass it does! Furthermore, during the press conference and following one-on-one interviews with McLellan, he couldn't stop talking about Marleau and how he loves his style of play.

So why would DW turn around and trade away one of the largest pieces of his new coach's plan? He wouldn't! Patty is going to be a member of the Sharks for the next 2 years, if not longer.....END OF STORY!!!!

I agree with you to a certain point where marleau is fast but he hasn't been that impressive in the "up the middle" and "puck possession" category. I hope that marleau will blossom into a dominant player under the new system but there is not gurantee. I really like marleau as a shark and i hope that he'll retire as one.
