Draft Day

Posted 1:09 PM ET | Comments 2
My first blog and I figured I would start from the beginning. I am a leaf fan and I wanted to put my 2 cents in to who I think the leafs should be looking at on Draft day.

Round 1 (7th pick)
I know everyone says Defense wins championships but for the leafs, they need a guy that can be a good, young, tough leader who can put the puck in the net from the forward position. Cody Hodgson, C, Brampton (OHL) seems to be the name that’s been thrown around and I agree with it. This kid looks like he could step right in to the 2nd line of the leafs next year with the potential of moving to the first line. It has been said he is a fantastic leader in the room and in my opinion he could be the next great captain for the leafs in the next couple of years.

*As the weeks go on ill move through each round and put out some more names I think the leafs should be looking at.

Have a good one. Thanks

Mark

i think Cody Hodgson is their best bet unless for some reason one of the big three d-men drops to them. I would also really consider Nikita Filatov if he drops down to them also. Even Colin Wilson I think would be great for them. Its tough to call, but it is a good problem to have.

Cody Hodson is a solid pick... but he doesn t project as an elite player. He is good at everything but great at nothing... certainly worth a 2nd line position and a possible captaincy down the road, but not the elite talent that the Leafs desperately need to get with a high draft pick... basically, I m of the feeling that the Leafs need to pick the best player available at the 7th pick which could very well be Luke Schenn... and it would definitely be nice to have a stalwart defensive blueliner for once.
