Zetterberg to be first

Posted 1:36 PM ET | Comments 9
Source's close to the Zetterberg camp said that they have been told that there will be no contact talks between Henrik and the Red Wings till after December. My source has told me that the Red Wings want no distractions coming in to this season that might hinder them from having a strong start to the season. Once the New Year comes Henrik Zetterberg will be the first Wing to be signed to a multi year deal (matching Hossa money). They want him to be the new face of the Red Wings...can you blame them??

I think they might get hank for less then hossa money probably somewhere around datsyuk money just because he likes it a lot here and he wants to win plus holland and crew almost always sign players for less then they are worth

This true, i beleive he is worth more then Hossa thats for sure and he deserves Hossa money, but yes i have a feeling he will sign for less, and why not, stay with a winner and get a chance to add some more rings to the collection

I may sounds like a homer but I really think that Zetterberg is the best player in the league right now. I think that he could get whatever he wants on the open market since he will be one of the best 5 top guys in the league for the next 4 years or so. However, he will probably sign for around $6.5 a year.

Ever heard of Ovechkin, Malkin, Crosby? I don't think he's better than any of them, maybe Malkin. And I have him in my pool, so its not cause i don't like him that I say this. I think he'll get at least 7.

On pure skill, Ovechkin, Crosby..better...putting it all together (skill, determination, leadership which equals a cup) Zetterberg has it. We saw it on that 5 on 3 in the Finals. O and Sid have the potential and will probably get there, just haven't had the time in the league. Malkin, well...his "virus" in the finals demonstrates that he may have a little farther to go. Z will sign long-term for around 7 a year.

i bet he signs for somewhere around the 6 or 6.5 million range and i just get this feeling that somehow they may keep hossa also

he deserves to be getting 8-9 mill per year... if he tests the free agent market ... he will easily get offers of 10-12 mill per year... but if he's smart and stays with detroit then he will probably sign for 6-7 mill.
