Alot of people have been wondering who the Islanders will select 1st overall in the upcoming 2009 NHL Entry Draft. There have been some rumblings lately that Matt Duchene will be the pick. Should we believe them? I dont think so.

The bottom line is, when the Islanders select a player 1st overall on friday night, that player should be and will be John Tavares. When you ask Islanders fans who the Islanders should pick, they overwhelmingly will most likely answer your question with none other than the name of John Tavares. But its not just about what the fans want.

The Islanders need someone to be the face of their franchise. They need someone to help keep the team on Long Island by drawing people to the Coliseum. That person is Tavares. The Islanders need to generate a buzz that will draw the interest of the fans across Long Island. Just imagine having John Tavares at center and Kyle Okposo on right wing. That will be a line to fear for years to come. It will also get the Islanders some much needed attention in the hockey world. Who knows, it may also get them a few marquee free agents down the line. So when the Islanders select John Tavares on friday night just remember who told you they were going to do that a few days earlier and why its the best decision the Islanders will have made in a long time.

Snow will screw this draft up by not taking JT and the entire 18,000 Islander fans at the draft party will say good-bye for ever. Wang is not a good owner

For the past few months Snow has drawn attention to the Islanders and their organization like we've not seen in years. Just by keeping his mouth shut. Everytime some EXPERT proclaims that Tavares will be bypassed, every Tom Dick and Hillary starts shouting what a lousy GM he is. Lets just wait and see. Snows been doing a pretty good job so far

JT to the ISL is all but guaranteed. The only thing that would sway Snow otherwise is a blockbuster offer from a team who is willing to drastically overpay to move up a few spots... and that team would have to be in the top 5.
