Sabres week 3 report:

Posted 11:09 AM ET | Comments 7
Week 3 started pretty rough for the Sabres. 2 dismal 5-2 losses to the Senators and Lightning. They looked like they did not deserve to be playing in the NHL. Then when you get down on them they throw you a 5-0 domination over Washington. Lindy got them back to basics with the defense first style and it paid big dividends. So they finish the week 1-2 with Gaustad and Connolly returning to the lineup.

Surprisingly enough there were no overtime games this week. Probably because we were either dominated or was the dominator. 9 goals for and 10 goals against

According to HB fantasy point production:

1st star: Ryan Miller 37 pts
2nd star: Thomas Vanek 33 pts
3rd star: MacArthur/Kotalik 25 pts

Underachievers of the week.
Gaustad 3 pts
Kaleta 4 pts
Stafford 4 pts

Thomas Vanek just keeps on rolling. 3G and a +1 in a losing week. Now up to 11G in 11GP. Can he keep this up all year? Ryan Miller starts weak and finishes strong with his first shutout. For the week he had a 2.50GAA and a .928 save percentage. Good enough to lead the league in GAA for the year.

Notable no shows in the point column this week:
Stafford 0 pts and a -3

Stat of the week:
Numminen - 1G on 1 shot - 100%

Stat of the year:
Matt Ellis - 0G 0A 0+- 0PM - What is the point of him playing?

Stats say we need 94 pts for a playoff spot:
16 down, 78 to go

Looking forward to another great game tonight. Lets go Sabres.

I think it's time to trade Staff, put him in a package deal. Good blog you have

I have to agree with trading Stafford, but we have to get something decent back in return. Right now we probably will not be able to get much for him.

stop with the "trade stafford" noise. he's a 20/20 guy.
