Ooh! Aah! Sabres on the Warpath!, NY • United States • 35 Years Old • Male
If the season ended today there are 16 teams in position to make the playoffs.

San Jose Sharks
Boston Bruins
Detroit Red Wings
New York Rangers
Montréal Canadiens
Pittsburgh Penguins
Anaheim Ducks
Vancouver Canucks
Minnesota Wild
Philadelphia Flyers
Calgary Flames
Washington Capitals
New Jersey Devils
Chicago Blackhawks
Nashville Predators
Carolina Hurricanes

13 out of these 16 teams are in the top 16 in the league in terms of cap hit. So it seems spending as much as you can gets you into the playoffs. The major exception to this rule is Dallas who sits 27th in the league but 1rst overall in cap hit. It also shows that the Canucks are playing way over their head. Their cap hit is 25th but they are in 8th overall. A close second is Nashville ranked 29th in cap hit but 15th overall.

What does this tell GM's. If you want to make the playoffs you have to spend to the cap. Teams will make back this money from revenue generated in the playoffs. Now someone please forward this to Sabres management and get them working on some trades with extra cap hit coming back.

On a side note, SJ is 21-3-1. Thats crazy. They are on pace for 141pts.

more importantly though, WHO is even up for trade (and worth fighting for)? and who is even willing to trade?

the thing is we can't spend to the cap so we have to hope for the best! i don't know that you need to spend it all but it makes it easier for GM's to build a good team with more money. I just don't get why darcy has to wait until the deadline every year to make a trade. Trade max or al if they can't help us!

We could just try and sign Sundin and waive a few players.

Really, Sundin?

why not Sundin......I'd go for it....what do you have to loose....this team needs a center....get rid of the junk already (Afinogenov, Connolly, Tallinder) and get your number one guy in front......i think that take pressure off of Roy....he'll go down to the 2nd line and he'll start playing better!!!
