I thought I would write a blog on a suggestion from a fellow Poster Flame Head
I hope I got his name right which was the relationship of Sutter and Keenan.

First of all I have been told that Sutter Learned his coaching ability from Mr. Keenan. Which mean there was a history between the two gentlemen and they have mutual respect, also Sutter knows how Keenan coaches, so there will be no surprises. There will be no problems with communication. Which does comfort me in knowing that Keenan won't let a need go to long before getting if fixed. Sutter never works slow once he has been addressed with the team needs he will work quickly to ratify the weakness.

My Second Concern is can two Admirals work in one ship, Can Iron Mike Work under Sutter. The roles are reversed here will Mike take orders from one of his Protégé's And that answer really is on Sutter will he allow Mike to have some say on the players who comes in and so far he has with the example of Adrian Aucoin. Another concern is will Iron Mike will struggle with Sutter for power on the team. Meaning will Keenan, keep demanding or pressuring Sutter into getting his type of players. Will Sutter be able to Rope or hog tie Keenan to keep him in control? Myself I really don't see a problem on Sutter's end he has no problems about letting people know how he feels. But will Iron Mike take no for an answer? You have to understand both of these men are use to getting their own way there will have to be a lot of give and take from both men. Sutter will have to rely on Iron Mike's input on the team. Mike will have to respect that Sutter will ultimately get the final say on the decision on the trades. Suttter will also have to allow Keenan the say on who goes to the farm and who stays. If these two can work it out and not get personal it maybe a good time in the spring for the City of Calgary, if not another year of disappointment.

Now about Jim Playfair how much say will he have can he step in and Play peace maker or will be expected to? I think Playfair is in his comfort zone as an assistant, but will he enough say on the out goings or in goings on the team. Will Iron Mike let him have some Responsibility? He will also have to be the Level headed one because someone has to be good cop because bad cop is covered with Sutter and Keenan. If Playfair is given enough say on this team he is very valuable asset as assistant Coach.

The Flames are good hands as long as everyone works their roles this team should be fun to watch come October I can't hardly wait drop the puck already.

Agreed FLAMESTR -- Playfair may often be called upon to quell the revolt... espescially if things start going poorly early....

yeah all child molestation jokes aside (pretty classy) this is a massive question mark. I was disappointed when I heard he was our coach when other veterens were available at the time like murray. I think the flames need an x's and o's guy not a task master, but playfair couldn't cut it either way... He has a decent team this year and a great leader in Iginla and a stellar goalie. That was the recipe that he used to get the cup with the rangers...

Flamestr, another great blog. Something struck me though. You said 'Mike will have to respect that Sutter will ultimately get the final say.' My concern for your Flames is that Keenan hasn't shown that ability anywhere he's gone. I agree though that Playfair is key. He'll be the one the players keep close to. Keep the great blogs coming!!

Good stuff Flamstr. It's going to be an interesting dynamic between the three men as the season progresses. My concern is in the same field as Zen's, because Keenan and Martin had a "good" relationship prior to working together in Florida, and that ended ugly. Hopefully the same will not occur in Calgary.

Keenan has never worked in a coaching job where he did not have some say in personnel decisions. For this scenario to work there must be a major adjustment to Keenan's style of coaching. Unfortunately I think the game has moved a generation or two away from Keenan as a coach. for Sutter to set up a triangle of authority and ego between himself, Playfair and Keenan is foolish. IMO the only thing that saves the Flames is the players themselves if they can't do it where does the organization go from there?PB

Great Blog! As an Oiler fan I thought it was pretty good they got Iron Mike on Board, but as the occasional Flames fan, I have to say it made me nervous, he is very temperamental, and always seems so negative... But we shall see, Again great article!Go Oilers!mckeevs1980

Great post Flames. These questions will be answered either at or before the playoffs. It will be interesting to see the outcome. Can Iron Mike work with and for Scrappy Sutter. Will they still be respectful of each other. Only time will tell, but I am pulling for them both. Keep the great blogs coming!
