Flames state of team

Posted 7:13 AM ET | Comments 0
It is the start of summer the flames have traded away a blue chip prospect and a 5th rounder for two 2nd round picks and from what I know of Roman Horak a career AHLer. we all know the prospect is Tim Erixon who's father Jan played for the Rangers his entire career racking up 57 goals and 216 points. Apparently the entire family loves the city and organization which meant the flame basically wasted the a first round pick in 2009 that could have been used on a Simon Despres or Kyle Clifford. Despres is coming off a Mem Cup win and will probably draw into the Pittsburghs line up next year with his good puck moving skills and good defensive IQ. Clifford has already played an entire season with the LA Kings playing a third line role almost agitator kinda game. but whats done is done lets hope Roman Horak turns into a NHL sniper and the flames draft a great player in the 2nd round this and next year.

Alex Tanguay is not signed and reports say won't be until after July 1 so that means he will test the market to "find his value". Which will probably be around 4 to 5 million if teams like the rangers get involved (you never know what Glen Sather is up to). Alex played great this year on Jerome Iginla's left wing scoring 22 goals and 69 points well up from a disappointing year in Tampa Bay. if Tanguay decides to take a home town discount or a "Iggys left winger discount" the best we could really hope for is about 3.5 mil per year on a 3-4 year year deal.

Curtis Glencross is signed to a 4 year 2.55 mil per deal which is reasonable for both sides considering GlenX scored 24 goals and 43 points this year. On a "real contender"he is a third line player but he plays second line on a none play off Calgary team. A gritty very streaky left winger with a great wrist shot that complements olli Jokinen's abundance of skill but lack of finish and Rene Bourque's great slap shot.

Iggy oh Iggy he is very a very loyal soldier who just keeps on going whether the team is 1st place or 29th Jerome scored his 1000th point of his career this year in a game against the st.Louis Blues. Iggy managed 43 goals and 86 points this year which is good for any player but extremely good for a 33 year old power forward which is the way to describe him and he defines the playing style "power forward".

Brent Sutter stepped down this year to make way for Jay Feaster the long lasting motto of flames fans "in sutter we trust" will no longer be heard throughout the Calgary collective. with Feaster coming in all we can hope for is he guides the Flames back into the post season dance but only the future will tell us that.

Have a nice day.
