Woywitka Out 4-6 Weeks

Injuries are starting to pile up early into the year for the Blues' defense.

First was Erik Johnson's freak knee injury, then it was Jonas Junland injuring his shoulder in the first preseason game in Kansas City, and now comes word of another big injury.

Jeff Woywitka will be out for 4-6 weeks with a cracked bone in his right foot. The injury occurred after he blocked a shot in Friday night's game at home against Atlanta.

With Woywitka now out of the lineup, offseason acquisition Mike Weaver or 2008 first round draft pick Alex Pietrangelo could end up as the sixth defenseman on the roster come opening night.

I am still one in favor of making a move for a veteran defenseman that can provide some offensive prowess, especially on the power play. If Bryan Berard doesn't get a spot on the Flyers' roster out of camp, I'd expect the Blues to show some interest in acquiring him.

I believe you might be right. But this isn't the end of the world. Heck, Jonus is supposed to bounce back which means I'd hope to see him. Another scary thought is that Pollack is playing injured and received an injection to relieve the pain. So there might be a point where the grind of the season makes him have to sit for a while.Haven't had a chance to see a game yet but Petro is doing pretty good so far from what I can tell even if it is only a preseason game here and there.

Woywitka is not a big loss.
