Brett, you better start working on your script for the Stanley Cup Finals. You will be on TV for games 4-7. Try expanding your vocabulary, try eliminating the word TERRIBLE. Maybe you can write the Ducks off early and whine some more about the Red Wings and why they didn't make it to the finals. They played terrible for two periods tonight. Great game tonight, dominat...

I agree with Hull and Cherry

Posted Tuesday | Comments 0
I have to say that I did like the segment after the 2nd period during game 4 last night with Don Cherry visiting the NBC booth. As far as the opinion of both Cherry and Brett Hull I have to agree that the majority would like to see fighting as part of the NHL and I do agree that ratings wouldn't suffer, but would be better if it was more common to see a little sparring...
I just got home from the ceremonies inducting Brian Burke, Bret Hull, Dennis Kearns and Bob Hall into the BC Hockey Hall of Fame here in Penticton BC. It was an absolutely amazing ceremony mc'd as usual by former BCTV sportscaster Bernie Pascal. This is an annual event sells out every year and this year was no different. Anybody that is able to come to this event should as...

No more TV for Hull!!!???

Posted Wednesday | Comments 0
that is one step in the right direction for hockey. i no longer have to hear about how he won his cups, or ridiculous analogies or watch keith jones or chicken parm roll their eyes at his less than intelligent comments. this is good news.
Ok so I am posting this a few days after the appointment of Hull and Jackson as interim co-general managers in Dallas. This whole interim co-GM thing seems to me that Hicks wants Jackson to train Hull so that Hull can take over as the man in Dallas. I don’t mind Hull as a co-gm as long as he is just the sideline guy that is there to learn the position. Jackson has been i...

Ribeiro locked up!

Posted Monday | Comments 0
Just announced on the Dallas Stars broadcast tonight..... Mike Ribeiro is going to be a dallas stars for a good while! He signed a 5 year 25 million dollar deal today! Ribeiro is having a career year and is on pace for 80+ points. Personally, I am very happy with the move. It is a very good deal for both sides! Turco just annihilated Gaborik on a breakaway! mo...
Yet another inspiring and hard-fought Red Wings victory in the playoffs. Are the professional pundits finally going to learn that the Wings ARE "physical enough" to get through this? Is anyone going to admit that the "Red Wings are too old" isn't going to fly anymore when the difference in average age between Detroit and Dallas is less than a year? No matter, rega...
The NHL web site has posted the transcript of Gary Bettman's remarks before the Wings/Stars game on 05/15/08. In them we learn that at least one reporter had the ability to ask "a fascinating question" to which no clear answer was ever given, when queried if it is good for the league to have a dominating team like Detroit. One wonders wh...
The All Star Break can't come soon enough for Marty Turco. The Stars have had to ride Turco too much because of a slow start and a lack of confidence in backup netminder Tobias Stephan. to make matters worse having no AHL team to allow Stephan to get regular work compounds the problem. The third kink ( a hat trick of a problem) is they have no cap room to acquire a vetera...
approximately 2 days from now we'll know who the Leafs drafted with their first round selection. I have all the faith in Burkie (hence my Burke leafs jersey I purchased before he was announced as GM/President) but I do think he has a very tough task to complete in Montreal. For Starters with all the media attention he has received over his stay up until now I can surel...
In front of a packed house at the Scottrade Center on Brett Hull night, the Blues pulled out a rare home victory on a beautiful late goal by T.J. Oshie. It was a great play set up by the forecheck of David Backes, allowing Paul Kariya to take the puck and feed Oshie with a beautiful pass that Oshie roofed. Another rarity, the Blues scored a power-play goal. That unit st...
The one forgotten aspect of Kotalik is that before he was traded to Calgary he had the Flames as one team he didn't want to go to, there was speculation that he would take the trade and go play in the KHL this year which would have been a much better trade for Calgary then. Having Higgins for a couple months is better than having Jokinen for a couple months. We'll see! It ...
