Hey, let me introduce myself i'm Ray, i'm from Belfast, Ireland (yeah there are hockey fans there!....really!) i'm 21 years old and am a huge Toronto Maple Leafs Fan! HEY STOP THE BOOING ALREADY! This is the first of hopefully many entries in my blog. Hope you read regularly and enjoy, any feedback or comments are much appreciated. So the Stanley Cup Finals are here ...
Hey guys. Seeing as this is my first post I think I should introduce myself. My name is Matt and I'm 15 years old. I live in Cincinnati, OH and I'm mainly a Columbus Blue Jackets fan. I've been a hockey fan my entire life, when my parents raised me on the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL and IHL. And ever since, I've been hooked. With that, let's blog. The one thing the...

Why not Boucher?

Posted Saturday | Comments 0
With several teams interested in backup goalie help, I wonder why no one seems to have interest in the resurgent Brian Boucher of the Philadelphia Phantoms. Currently on a minor-league contract, Boucher has been one of the reasons for the Phantoms first-place standing in their division. As of this writing, his numbers are: Games Played:...

Who will start?

Posted Thursday | Comments 0
So is anyone else thinking Curtis Joseph has a chance to start tonights game for Calgary or does Kipper get the start again? Honestly I think Iron Mike will go with Kipper but how can you not give a chance to Cujo when he deffinatly made the impact of game 4 to let Calgary come back and even the series? What does everyone think? Give Cujo a chance or start Kipper?
In addition to Eklund's rumor today that the Sabres are extremely interested in Brian Rolston - and why wouldn't they be based on the veteran leadership the team has lacked since Chris Drury departed - I found an interesting tidbit. What do he and Thomas Vanek have in common? Same agent. Steve Bartlett of Rochester, N.Y., just down the Thruway from Buffalo, repres...
While fans around the NHL point and laugh at the US$14-million, four-year deal given to defenseman Jeff Finger, Cliff Fletcher is following a blueprint to ensure the Leafs a more promising future. Let's start with the player that is discussed the most, Jeff Finger. An almost unknown commodity around the NHL, he's somewhat of an underrated player when you take a look at ...
If the 2008 NHL Entry Draft was going to be the linchpin onto which the Maple Leafs commenced its rebuild, then the July 1st free agency free-for-all was going to be a barometer with which to measure the organizations immediate ambitions. Going into the first days of free agency, the Leafs had two options. The first was too play it frosty, pick up some low key, low cap h...

A Rant

Posted Monday | Comments 0
The only way to possibly heal the emotional wounds this team has caused me is to rant. If I don't, I fear a heart attack is in order for the very near future. I'll start with an issue that needs to be resolved, an issue that is causing me a loss of hair, an issue forcing me to listen to Simple Plan and lock myself in my room for days. That issue is the goaltending of V...

Pogge's Time to Shine

Posted Sunday | Comments 1
It appears Vesa Toskala has been complaining of a sore groin for some time, and during the Leafs' 7-3 win over the Pens last night, the soreness had reached a limit. TSN is reporting that Toskala will be out of the lineup when the Leafs face the Thrashers on Monday. For goaltending prospect Justin Pogge, this is the best news of the season (but he won't tell you that). ...

Our Kingdom for a Goalie

Posted Saturday | Comments 0
Through 45 games the abject tandem of Toskala and Joseph has combined for the worst team save percentage in the NHL and by an ever increasing margin. Where .900 is seen as a barometer for average net minding in the modern game, the Blueshirted duo has managed just .886 between them. Subsequently the hard work put into making the Leafs sixth in shots against with a 28.3 per...
Curtis Joseph gets the nod against the Ottawa Senators tonight. And his two wins have got me confident! Let's lay it on the table right away, the Leafs owe Martin Gerber nothing, and judging from his play this season (and the fact that he was acquired through re-entry waivers), he has done nothing to earn the role as a starting goaltender. Under the circumstances, Gerbe...
This has been a quiet off season for the Toronto Maple Leafs when it comes to the unrestricted free agent market. The Leafs signed Colby Armstrong when the gate opened July 1st and Brett Lebda on July 7th, they also look to have loaded up the Marlies with a few other minor signings but the biggest move of this off season will not be a free agent signing and may just be the...
