I can't believe no one has commented on this yet. After the huge game 7 disappointment, the Chris Pronger kick to the collective groins of Oilers fans, ticket price increase, injury ravaged, non-puck moving D man of a season, Joffre Lupul single handedly gets the Calgary Flames into the playoffs. I know I'm a little late in posting this, but last nights utter snoozfest a...

[img:left]http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y102/Zacobius/matshor_78503.jpg[/img] Well we knew it was coming. Originally reports 2 months ago but DD at TSN, Mats was offered a 2 year deal, 11mil or so. That's what everyone was expecting and while many did not like it, they have come to accept it. So then last night, DD reports a 1 year deal. Huh? This caught me off ...

The Ice Bowl

Posted Friday | Comments 0
Well, it's official (according to wgr) that Ralph Wilson Stadium will said the Ice Bowl January 1st against Sid and the Pens. Nice for Buffalo to (finally) host a "big" event. It hosted an ASG at the Aud in 78. And don't forget Hull's contraversial Stanley Cup goal.

Those nine words from Mike Richards caused his agent, Pat Morris, to take a phone call from Flyers GM Paul Holmgren and throw the bruising former winger for a loop. Morris asked Holmgren for a fifteen year deal that would allow Richards to retire as a Flyer. Fans who have watched Richards over his three year career can't help but compare the 5'11 185 lb pivot to Flye...
Twas the night before my short vacation to Los Angles and the second day of this new year. So I've decided to come up with a list of New Years Resolutions I believe our New York Islanders should have for the year 2008. If you have more ideas than what I came up with.. please leave a comment on this blog or drop me an email at [email protected] 1. STAY HEALTHY[/b...
They were made the second and third highest paid centers in the league. They were rewarded greatly for having accomplished nothing, their salaries coming as major investments into the future of the franchise. They were to step in and become the leaders of the team and take the New York Rangers to the Stanley Cup. However, what was lost in all of the fanfare and glory of th...

Hockey in the Summer

Posted Thursday | Comments 0
I've been checking this site on occasion this off season. Lately I've been thinking: What ever happened to seasonal sports? I love hockey. I'm 30 and have been playing hockey since I was a Mite. But the summer was for baseball. I can't think of a sport that my buddies and I didn't or don't play. And being interested in numerous sports, I watch what I have time for, ...
It is difficult to make a comparison on the 2007/2008 season with these two superstars due to the injury of Crosby, but here are some key points. Ovechkin side-- Ovechkin averaged .79 goals per game and 1.37 points pergame to Crosby's .45 goals per game and 1.36 points per game. These statistics are more accurate than total numbers due to Crosby missing several games. ...
Happy New Year one and all! May 2009 be better than the year that preceded it and may the blessings of good friends, family and health go out across the web to all my friends. BEST GAME OF THE YEAR FLAMES BEAT SHARKS There are games, and then there is the Flames and Sharks battle on January 15th as the two big guns battled it out. The Sharks score early as Ryan Clowe opens the scoring in the first minute. The Flames actually rebounded after the first goal quite nicely, keeping the Sharks to 1-0 at the end of the period. The Flames a...
I sat amongst a circle of friends last night, one of which was a Leaf fan. We were enjoying good conversation and the Leaf fan wanted to break from form and peek at the Leaf game on TV. To be honest, I had no interest in doing so but obliged him for a few moments. Then a typical Leaf/Hab jab moment ensued with him reminding me of last Saturday's drubbing of the Habs by ...
As we look back at the 2008-09 season, it's interesting the note the players that no longer appear on the stats sheet. Let's take a look at the notable retirees, as well as those that you may have missed who have played their last shift in the NHL. (At least until they come out of retirement next year.) The Hall of Fame Class: Jaromir Jagr - We have ...
For five years now, around this time I eagerly anticipate the upcoming NHL hockey season, with what retrospectively seems like foolish optimism. This optimism on an annual basis remarkably convinces me that my pride and joy (The Toronto Maple Leafs) will have a real shot of making the playoffs. Call it excellent team marketing skills or a love blinded fan base, eith...

Sabres' Goals of the Year

Posted Wednesday | Comments 0
The Sabres lit the lamp 245 times this past regular season, but here are a few that are worth taking another look at. These are not ranked or posted in any particular order. Click below to check out the videos: http://sabreshockeycentral.com/2011/05/18/goals-of-the-year-2010-2011/
Dropping the gloves in the NHL has become somewhat of an art-form in today’s game. Whether it be the endless marathon, total beat-down or even the occasional all-out brawl, nothing gets the blood of hockey fans pumping better than two players tossing hay-makers. The Buffalo Sabres racked up 30 fighting majors this season — many of which resulted in a Sabre skating t...
