Friday, April, 6, 2007 Over the past month it has seemed as if the individuals from the NHL office who form the yearly schedule must contain psychic abilities. With one of the greatest play off races the game has ever seen, the league has shown an eyrie ability to place all the teams involved in the race against one another coming down the stretch. Still, throughout m...
Well last night I talked about how Versus was leaving me in the dark by showing the Canucks game (a move that paid off well) instead of the Wild game, but really that decision isn't Versus problem, it's the NHL's. This time of the year there is four games every night, it's definetly the most exciting time of the season. The NHL should take advantage of that by showing off ...
I know the news is all about free agency this week...but the pre-season schedule was also released (at least for the STARS, and, I assume everyone else?). As I was perusing the 7-tilt set, my mind began to formulate a plan for more inter-conference play...ultimately leading to more exposure and growing the fan base for this great game. I came up with two excellent baby s...
Well, on Friday last week, I was roaming around hockeybuzz noticing that nothing was going on, and I silently wished for some action. Boy, was that a mistake. Next thing I know, I see "Selanne to Philly (e4)" and I curse Ek. I wanted good rumours, not bad. I mean come on Ek, can't you weed them out. I immediately went to the comments and posted a comment that implied that ...

Preds Schedule...A Quick Look

Posted Wednesday | Comments 0
The NHL just released the schedule for the 07-08 hockey season and at first glance it looks favorable for the Preds. - Saturday Night Fever: The Preds have 14 Saturday home games. For a team trying to get butts in seats nothing is better than a Saturday home game. - Never Far Away: The Preds have only tow long road trips...a five game swing in Late October that takes...
I am just curious to know what are the number of back to back games your teams are sentenced to play next year? The Sabres get to play 20 back to back games. Just under a quarter of their schedule. I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess the Leafs, Senators and Canadians were protected in this way. I guess this is the way the NHL gets back at certain teams for thei...
Through some extesive research I have found 4 games that are scheduled for the Buffalo Sabres this Septemeber. These dates & opponents are official but the schedule is not "OFFICAL" as of yet. I think they may have 1 or 2 more games to add. That is just my opinion though. The reason i say that is they start 4 days later than any other teams i have sound and end 8 days...

All Is Quiet

There was a time when MyHockeyBuzz and HockeyBuzz were littered with posts about the Preds from both Pred fans and those who hated the fact that a team was deep in Dixie. Where though, I ask, has it all gone? For fans of the franchise I think there is some fatigue for sure. For a couple of months now we have been living in this unknown, grasping any news that seemed ...
Today the Buffalo Sabres have offically announced they are playing a game @ "THE RALPH". But dont get all worked up just yet. This game is at the Ralph Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks, N.D. on September 24th, vs The Minnesota Wild. The game is a homecoming of sorts for Drew Stafford. Drew played his college puck @ "THE RALPH" for the Fighting Sioux. Below is the OFFICIAL...

Scheduling

Now, I know that everybody is aware of problems with the current schedule and that the NHL has taken steps to try and rectify it. However with the Flames current road trip, I was curious about why the league would schedule them to have two separate road trips out to the East coast. The Flames have to travel for a 6 games in 11 nights swing, including three of the five...
By Rich Hammond on July 16, 2008 1:21 PM The Kings have signed restricted free agents Erik Ersberg, Gabe Gauthier, Matt Moulson and Joe Piskula to contracts for next season. I'll try to get the terms and money for these deals, particularly Ersberg, since he was headed for arbitration. I'd have to guess Ersberg agreed to a two-year contract, but that's just a guess. ...
I am so pumped for the start of the season. This is always one of my most favorite days during the summer. Here is the 08-09 Flyers schedule. http://flyers.nhl.com/team/app?service=page&page=SubseasonSchedule I would like to take a look at the first month and my initial impressions: Visitor Home Sat Oct 11,...
After looking at the Red Wings schedule for the upcoming season I notice some very, very sweet weekends! As mentioned earlier in Mark Spizzirri's Red Wing blog here on Hockeybuzz, they have 2 tough road trips out west and of course everyone is talking about the New Years Day game vs. Chicago Blackhawks outdoors at Wriggley Field along with the unveiling of the Stanley Cup...
The new schedule is out and you can view it on the sharks website. But I thought it might be nice to point out a few select dates and why they might be of interest to Sharks fans. On October 17th, Eastern Conference powerhouse Philly visits. Sid the Kid (sorry, Captain Kid) and the mighty Pens visit the tank on Tuesday, October 28th in a Halloween preview. After all, ...
If Philadelphia intends to win the Atlantic Division, much less get a home playoff series...they have to post AT LEAST 14 of the 22 points available in the month of February. Looking at their schedule its possible, but there are some positives and a few negatives that need to be addressed: 1) Philadelphia plays 7 home games in February against Boston, Ottawa, NY Isl...

Sabres Schedule Outlook

Posted Saturday | Comments 0
I figured I would be like everybody else and talk about the schedule. So, for all of the Sabres fans, here is a quick look at the upcoming year. The Buffalo Sabres will open the regular season on Saturday, October 3rd against Montreal. Buffalo will quickly get to see Jaroslav Spacek back at HSBC arena. The first road game of the season will be the following Saturday whe...
Once again the unbalanced schedule by the NHL has some teams playing many more games than others at this point in the season. At times it gives very unrealistic views of teams. For example, the Senators have 16 points (as of 11/9/09) and appear out of the playoff picture at the moment, when in fact which has gathered those points in just 14 games. By reorganizing the st...

The NHL and the Buffalo Sabres have officially released their schedules for the upcoming 2010-2011 season. The Sabres will begin its campaign on Friday, October 8 in Ottawa. Buffalo will then return home the next night to host the New York Rangers. The Sabres longest home stand of the season will take place in February. Buffalo will host six teams in ten days, including...
With an 82 game schedule this upcoming season for the young Colorado Avalanche here is a look at the big showdowns heading into the 2011-2012 season. As always games will become more important throughout the season based on standings and previous meetings between the clubs. If you see another stellar tilt on the calendar add some reasons why fans should mark it down and...
I'm writing a quick blog about my thoughts on the Wings lineup for the opener against Buffalo. And addressing why I think this is the best lineup to get points. Franzen/Datsyuk/Zetterberg Nyquist/Weiss/Alfredsson Abdelkader/Helm/Tatar Miller/Andersson/Eaves Ericsson/Kronwall Smith/Kindl DeKeyser/Quincy Lashoff Injury call ups: Emmerton, Jurco, Jarnkrok, Sh...
With the summer silence still in effect around the league, here are some random thoughts. 99 Problems But A Russian's Not One If you look at the roster listed on sharks.NHL.com you'll see a full list of Americans and Canadians, with one Swede, a Fin and a Czech. The thoughts of any player bolting to the KHL aren't a worry for San Jose. Smooth Sche...
Boy, that cushion disappeared fast. Once considered near locks for the playoffs, Montreal now find itself in one of the two wild card spots after a single win in their last five games. Over that stretch, backup Peter Budaj and AHL starter Dustin Tokarski have allowed eighteen goals, or 3.6 per game. At the time of year when playoff teams look to gain home ice and bubble...
9 of 12. That's how many regular season away games the San Jose Sharks will be playing in the month of October. It's 11 of 14 if you include the final two pre-season games. For a team being forced to seek out a new identity, or any identity at all, it's not an easy start to a grueling 82-game campaign. With, presumably, new leadership guiding the ship, the Sharks ros...
