I think it's safe to say that a lot of people have been confused with the Ilya Kovalchuk saga. I for one, am a Los Angeles fan, but I have watched Ilya Kovalchuk play in almost every game he's played in since he was drafted First Overall.
When I first seen him play, his style of play attracted me. Most likely because myself in all sports I seem to play, I am offense minded before anything else. So, watching him, and relating to myself wasn't a hard thing to do. He's had success in Atlanta, and in New Jersey if you call the season totals, a success.
He does lack though, lacks playoff experience, and a team that fits him.
Since I even figured when he'd be an unrestricted free agent, I had my heart sets of LA. Why? I believe it's the best fit for him. He's an offense minded talent. Could you imagine him playing alongside Kopitar? And having Smyth fill duties on the other line at left wing. Not to mention Johnson, and Doughty who have quietly become an amazing duo when in full tact.
My question to you is, was LA the best fit for Ilya Kovalchuk? I think so, now your thoughts..
