Since the Devil's bloggers are nowhere to be found these days, I figured I would fill in. The struggling Devils host the struggling Sabres tonight in what can only be explained as a war of attrition. Tonight's goalie matchup with feature Johan Hedberg and Jhonas Enroth. Miller will be the emergency backup goalie for the Sabres and it is still unclear who will be Hedberg's backup, though there are rumblings that the Devils called up Mike McKenna for the game tonight. The Devils called up highly touted prospect Mattias Tedenby early this week and he has been skating in practice all week with Elias and Arnott. I am excited to see this kid get a legitimate chance. He is slight of frame but he can skate like the wind and has very good hands. Devils past and present (Parise, Gionta, Sullivan, etc) have proved it's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog. So with all of the injuries and inconsistency's this season, he could be the silver lining. In addition to Tedenby, Matt Corrente and Brian Rolston could be making their returns to the lineup which will definitely help. I certainly cannot believe how bad things have gotten that I am actually looking forward to seeing Brian Rolston back in the lineup. Maybe with the return of some players the wins will start to come. Even with all of the struggles as of right now, the Devils are 6 points out of a playoff spot. We can only sit back and hope and pray, otherwise this is going to be a very long season.
