Recap in NJ and Roloson

There is no doubt in my mind, and in the minds of all Islanders fans, that Dwayne Roloson is playing like an all-star lately. He has had to carry the team for the past few years, and has always been a great fit for this team. What might be very troubling to the fans is the fact that rumors have been surfacing of a possible trade for Rolie. In my honest opinion, trading him would be a grave mistake and would most definitely have a negative effect over the next two years. Despite Roloson's record, his goals allowed average is only 2.46 after Thursday's game in New Jersey.

Speaking of New Jersey, I would just like to discuss some things about that game on Thursday. The score may have ended at 5-1, but it could have easily been 5-4 or 5-5 on many different occasions. The defense for the Islanders forced Roloson to make great saves when the Devils had a lot of momentum. If DiPietro was in net, I think the Devils would have scored at least four goals. AND, if the rookie Lawson was in net, who knows what would have happened.

But, nonetheless, it was a great win for the Islanders, and one that extended their point streak to four games: (3-0-1). I thought the powerplay goal was a big confidence booster, and it was especially good because it was Josh Bailey's second goal of the game. He unfortunately did not have a chance to get the hat trick, but two goals in his second game back from the minors is fantastic.

Now I know the Islanders aren't playing their best hockey this year, but you can't trade Roloson just when the Islanders are starting to look like they have life again. He could be the difference maker for this hockey club this year, and no trade is worth that.
