As far as I am concerned, biggest All Star snub was Tomas Plekanec. He is in the conversation with Ryan Kesler and Pavel Datsyuk as best two-way forward in the NHL.
Reasons why Plekanec is an ALL STAR:
-Top Line center who still ends up playing against top lines and best D-men pairings
-Producing despite lack of production from linemates (leads team in goals, assists and points as of all star break). I am looking at you Andrei Kostitsyn and Mike Cammalleri
-Got Brian Gionta going when lines were juggled early in the season.
-Eats up 20+ minutes a game in all situations and has +/- of 10!
-Addition of Halpern was supposed to decrease Plekanec PK time but still plays big PK minutes
-Amazing vision on Power Play. Improving shot taking and chances along with his natural ice vision and precision passing
-Almost 50% face off man
Reasons Why Plekanec is not an All Star:
-Stats speak louder than overall game: 40 points in 49 games.
Here is my Top 5 Two Way Centres in Order:
1. Datsyuk, DET
2. Kesler, VAN
3. Plekanec, MON
4. M. Richards, PHI
5. J. Staal, PIT
Are these the best two way centres in the NHL?
Did Plekanec get snubbed?
Who would be your three Selke nominees?
