Sabres Trade Owners (and hopefully some players too)

Well, Terry Pegula did it. The Buffalo Sabres newest owner acquired the team from Tom Golisano and will take over on February 22nd, less than one week away from the NHL trade deadline. This should be an interesting situation. Pegula may try to make a splash and please the fan base. He may be content to play Darcy-puck and sit still at the deadline. Only time will tell what will happen. However, we can speculate as to what might happen on Feb. 28th.
Two guys that must go for me are Tim Connolly and Jochen Hecht. Connolly just doesn't have it anymore after plaguing injuries reduced his effectiveness. Hecht gives more pucks away than Rory Fitzpatrick, and is nothing like the solid two-way player he used to be. Other teams may find these two to be valuable in a different setting. Two teams I think they should be packaged to are Toronto and Calgary. Both teams should be "sellers" at the deadline, and both have some players that could fit in very nicely in Buffalo.
A forward I like a lot is Curtis Glencross from Calgary. Glencross has 15 goals and 24 points in 53 games this year. Not amazing numbers, but better production than Connolly (22 pts) and Hecht (20 pts). Calgary could also package in a defenseman, possibly Steve Staios, who's a guy that emphasizes tough d and some grit. If you ask me, both of those things are major needs in Buffalo.
All we can do is see what happens.
