I am getting really annoyed with the smack talk going on about Robyn Regehr taking too long to make up his mind. The guy was drafted by Calgary, played his entire career there, and due to his loyalty and respect for the team, earned a NMC with his contract. Now, obviously Calgary wanted to get rid of some salary (all to resign Alex Tanguay and make a trade for Ryan Smyth??), so they approached Regehr to waive his NMC to accept a trade to Buffalo. Now, the guy has raised a family in Calgary, and needed some time to decide. Is that really a big deal? When somebody asks you to pick up and move you and your family across the North America continent to move to a different country, is that really something that should've been a decision made instantly? Give the guy a break! He is going to be a welcome addition to the Buffalo Sabres young defencemen. And not to mention how stoked we should all buy that a bona fide NHL defenceman waive his NMC to come to Buffalo. Why? He's saying that Terry Pegula was a huge influence in making his decision. We gotta be happy about that, and have to imagine that, as Marty Turco said, NHL players are taking notice of what Terry Pegula is doing for the Sabres. He is making waves across the NHL and wants people to recognize what this franchise can be with an owner who actually cares about the productivity on the ice. Terry Pegula is bringing the Sabres in to a new era, and players are going to start understanding that, and hopefully, Buffalo will no longer be looked at with such negativity.
Obviously what Pegula, Black, and Regier are doing is working. Keep up the work. Still lots to do!!
