I guess its safe to say that every Leaf fan out there knows what free agency means. Everyone has there perspective on what it means, but in the end it all comes down to three things: what you need, what you want, how deep is your pocket. As much as I'd love to see the Leafs sign Richards or offer sheet Stamkos a quarter billion dollars over his life time, I would rather do the 'rebuild'. Yeah, that thing the Leafs have been doing since we picked up Phil the Thrill. Yet for some reason we have yet to pick in the top 5. I'm no forecaster but when the weather guy says its gonna rain I put my rubber boots and a wifebeater on. What I mean is if we all know the franchise, dynasty, elite players come in the top five why do we keep trading our first rounders? Brian Burke. Before we all chew our faces and die a little allow me to explain.
The
Leafs
Will
Never
Win
The
Cup
Be honest with yourselves. Do the people who own the Leafs really care about the Cup. I was raised in Toronto and well over two thirds of the teachers either didn't care about hockey, didn't like the Leafs or just down right liked the Habs (vomit). So, until the teachers pension plan is bought out by a hockey lover, don't expect the Leafs to win the cup.
FYI: I mentioned the rebuild because every Leaf fan seems to think we are in one. Wrong Leaf Nation, we are in the midst of a half century slump.
Until next time,
