Jeff Woywitka is now a Canadian. Montreal signed the defender to a one-year, two-way deal. Woywitka spent the 2010-2011 season with the Dallas Stars where he had 2 goals and 9 assists for 11 points in 63 games.
The former 1st rounder has been through the AHL and NHL in the past few years. This is a great addition for the Canadians. Woywitka has played 251 career NHL regular season games, and 315 career AHL regular season games. This signing provides defensive stability to complement offensive defender such as P.K Subban, Andrei Markov, and Jaroslav Spacek.
At age 27, Jeff Woywitka is coming upon his prime, hitting his second highest season point total last year. Woywitka would be a good partner to Yannick Weber because they are both strong in the defensive end of the ice. He will also be useful on the PK with his 97 blocked shots last season.
Although he hasn't lived up to his 1st round expectations, he is still a solid Defensive D who can help out this hockey club.
