I have compiled a list of comeback players and break out candidates for the 2011-2012 season. These guys should help any fantasy pool, especially down the stretch.
Don't call it a comeback this is a throwback and a showdown!
1. Alex Ovechkin - 85 pts is a bad season when your the GR 8. Expect him to win the Art Ross this year 115pts.
2. Nicklas Backstrom - 65pts is horrific when your as talented as this guy especially when your dishing to the top goal scorer in the league. 95-100 once again for mighty Nick.
3. Marian Gaborik - Assuming this guy stays healthy and clicks with B. Richards. Can you say 85 - 90 pts and 48-50 goals. Too much talent, too many injuries???
4. Zack Parise - this guy had 92 pts at one time. After an complete write off last year due to injury. Expect him to rebound big time and hit the high 80's.
5. Ilya Kovalchuk - too many 40 goal campaigns. Still in his prime expect him to be back in form after an adjustment with the devils. 84 pts. 40 goals.
6. Evgeni Malkin - Some bad luck with injuries has derailed Malkin the last few years. When your this good and if healthy you never want to take a back seat to anybody. Expect him to challenge Ovie for top honours. 100- 110 pts.
7. Michael Cammerlleri - With injuries finally behind him and a summer training camp that would kill the average player look out. Cammy is back....career year. 82pts
8. Jordan Staal - Injury plagued now in the back mirror. Return to form 60 - 65 pts
9. Travis Zajac - New coach...Parise back in the fold for tandem pairing. 60 -65 pts
10. Drew Doughty - Get this contract outta the way and all hail doughty. Way too much talent for more than a sophomore slump if you call it that. 58 -60 pts
11. Anrdrei Markov - Freak Injuries geesh. Top 4 Defenceman when healthy 55pts
Break Outs...Its like getting sucker punched never knew you were gonna hit me, and dang who know you had such a great hook shot.
1. JVR James Van Riemdyk - All the tools to do it. This year top line and top minutes. Showed what he can do in the playoffs last year. Look out cuz JVR coming for yah.
72 pts.
2. Matt Duchene - Speed kills especially when you know what your doing. Look out people 86 pts is not unreasonable for this superstar in the making
3. John Tavares - Hands that can make you look like you were daydreaming. Kid wonder finally hits his stride. 84 pts 36 goals
4. Evander Kane - 3rd year is a charmer.... Top line minutes by second half of season. 60pts
5. Kyle Okoposo - supposed to be the next Iggy....I don't think so but still a good jump in pts. 62 pts
6. Kyle Turris - This guy ripped it up in the AHL and had flashes last year in the NHL. A top 3 pick. 3rd year may be his coming out party. 60 pts
7. Michael Backlund - If he gets to centre Iggy just maybe post some decent numbers. 56 pts
8. Derek Brassard - 4th year top 5 pick. Something has gotta give here, less pressure
now that Carter is in town. Expect a jump in pts. 64 pts.
