Hockey will never be huge in so calif. I have lived here my whole life and been a puck fan as far as I could remember. The fact that 15,000 showed up at the Honda Center on a glorious saturday evening is pretty impressive. I have tried to pimp the sport to others with no avail. I dont think things will ever change because this region is soooo big geographically and there's just so much to do 365 days a year. There is just way too much competition for the almighty entertainment dollar.
This isn't a good or bad thing. I think it's just how things will always be. As I've read on other blogs, cater to your base and keep corporate happy and we can hopefully avoid what's going to happen in Nashville.
