On the night where many thought to believe that this could be a make or break game for the Bruins they once again didn't show up for a full 60 min of hockey against the hated rival Canadiens. With 5 days off after there disappointing game against the Sharks many believed that this was a time for the team to rest and shake off this "hangover" people keep talking about. Apparently those 5 days haven't changed anything. Claude Julien keeps telling the fans and the media that we need to be better and we need to put forth a full 60 min game but yet the team can't seem to follow what the coach is saying. Julien has done something that is out of the ordinary and has tried shaking up the lines to try and spark something on this team. The fact is this team is full of professional hockey players and shouldn't need the constant reminder of " Hey we need a full effort tonight."
The way the Bruins have been playing hasn't been awful or ugly to watch. It has just been plain inconsistent to put it nicely. The playing of Nathan Horton and David Krejci has been stalemate at best. Horton has always been a streaky player but I'm sure Bruins fan would like to see a better effort from there top RW. Krejci was out for 3 games but still has only posted 1pt in the 6 games he has plaid. I think we need last years playoff Krejci. Lucic finally seems to have his legs going again and looks good on the same line with Seguin. In fact some would say Seguin has been the best forward the Bruins have had so far this year. Posting 9 pts ( 3G, 6A ) in 9 games, Seguin is maturing before our eyes and because of the delayed started to the season by the B's his play is getting over looked. He seems to be playing with that " I'll show you attitude" towards Julien and the way he was treated last year.
At the end of the day the when all is said and done the Bruins just plain need to be better. One thing I do know for sure is that Peter Chiarelli isn't to happy about the way his team has been playing and I wouldn't be shocked if he didn't do something to shake up the locker room. Maybe a trade of some sort? Plenty of teams are looking for a variety of things to improve there team and the Bruins have plenty of younger players and draft picks to make a move if they really want. Only time will tell the true story of how this season is going to go down...
