Rostislav Olesz has cleared waivers on and has been sent to Rockford.
In his place, the Hawks have recalled Ben Smith from Rockford. Smith had 10 points (six goals, four assists) in nine games with the IceHogs this year.
As you know, obviously Olesz was a non-factor for the Hawks roster this year. Smith’s contributions at the end of last year during the playoffs against the Canuckleheads and in the preseason this year before he was concussed should make him a more viable candidate for regular ice time.
In my opinion for my beloved Blackhawks, the roster just got much better.
On a separate note, it is being rumored that the Hawks and the Islanders are in trade talks. Not sure who or whom but stay tuned.
