Daniil Zharkov, 17 year old Left Winger of the Ontario Hockey Leagues Belleville Bulls is beginning to turn heads with his recent play. Zharkov has 5 goals and 1 assist on the season. Not impressed?, What if I told you his season only began five games ago?. That is right, Zharkov has been sidelined since the preseason with a broken left clavicle.
Zharkov was Belleville`s 1st round pick (13th overall) in the 2011 CHL import draft. His 2010-2011 season began with Serebryanie LVI St. Petersburg in Russia where he tallied 3 points in 12 games. He then signed on with the Try-City Storm of the USHL and collected 8 goals and 3 assists in 36 games.
I seen Zharkov first hand tonight at the game against Ottawa in Belleville and this kid seems like the real deal. His skating ability is phenomenal. He has world class speed and possesses an absolute laser of a shot. He rang one off the post in the first and then blew one passed the Ottawa goalie to tie the game. His defensive game is well rounded also as he blocked numerous shots and broke up plays in Belleville`s end.
NHL Central Scouting recently released their 2012 Preliminary Draft Rankings and added Zharkov on the list under "limited viewing" due to the fact that he has been sidelined for most of the season. Expect him to be ranked high in the mid season rankings.

Note: Belleville goaltender Malcolm Subban had a strong game turning away 28 shots in a 3 - 2 loss to Ottawa. Subban was recently named the CHL goalie of the week and is ranked first among draft eligible goaltenders in the OHL.
