One of this seasons biggest surprises has been the St. Louis Blues. With the hiring of Hitchcock, they have been one of the best defensive teams in the league. They have signed backup Brian Elliot to a two year extension giving them two more years of affordable goal tending. There defense at one time was said to be lacking a veteran, but do you mess with the success there having? I know I wouldn't. They have a legit number one in Alex Pietrangelo, and his partner Carlo Colaiacovo play great together. Roman Polak and Barret Jackman are veteran shut down defenseman. Kris Russell and Kevin Shattenkirk are great puck moving defenseman and Ian Cole and Kent Huskins are top 6 on most teams.
On offense you got David Backes, TJ Oshie and David Perron on the top line. A second line of Patrick Berglund, Chris Stewart and Andy McDonald. Those lines only fault is they need to score more consistently but can both shut down top lines. You have Jamie Langenburner, Vladimir Sobotka and Jason Arnott coming back soon. A fourth line of Ryan Reaves, Scott Nichol and BJ Crombeen. Plus Alex Steen who is a top six forward.
I see no reason to mess with this, I think this group has great chemistry and will make a deep push.
Please be easy as this is my first blog.
I think many Blues fans agree with your assessment. Question is, does Army?
He says he is not messing with the club. I hope he stays true to that.
