So, was thinking on who we would send to Russia in 2014.... I have created a team that I would love to see iced.
C: Sidney Crosby, Steven Stamkos, John Tavares, Jonathan Toews
LW: Jeff Skinner, James Neal, Taylor Hall, Andrew Ladd
RW: Wayne Simmonds, Matt Frattin, Jordan Eberle, David Clarkson
D: Marc Staal, Cody Franson, P.K Subban, Alex Pietrangelo, Kris Letang, Justin Schultz
G: Carey Price, Corey Crawford, Marc-Andre Fluery
I know this team is young, but you have Crosby and Toews who have played Olympic hockey before and Fluery was selected to the team in 2010 as well.
Imagine some of the lines and pairings you could create with this.... as well as some players already having chemistry.
We tried with household names in 2010, now I say we let the young players take over and show the world what Canada has, this team could potentially have two cracks at Olympic gold as it is very young, average age by position at the time of olympics as follows:
C: 24.5 (Crosby the oldest at 26)
LW: 24.25 (Ladd the oldest at 28)
RW: 25.75 (Clarkson the oldest at 29)
D: 25 (M. Staal oldest at 27)
G: 28 (Both Fleury and Crawford will be 29)
So aside from swapping a handful of players, this team could very well represent us in 2010 as well as 2014.
I welcome your opinions on this roster!!
