While most fans in the Hub were celebrating the 4th of July with barbecue's, fun in the sun, and fireworks, Peter Chiarelli was orchestrating one of the bigger trades the Bruins organization had seen in recent years. He traded away what most considered one of the Bruins prized possessions, Tyler Seguin. Seguin, 21, was shipped to Dallas with fellow teammate Rich Peverley for Loui Eriksson and prospects Joe Morrow, Riley Smith, and Mark Fraser. As expected reactions from fans were mixed, but the message was clear, the Bruins were not waiting for Tyler Seguin to grow up.rn In comes Loui Eriksson, who has been one of the more underrated players in the NHL. Playing in a non-traditional market like Dallas, Loui was not thrust into the spotlight. What he brings to the Bruins is the ability to play both Left and Right wing, as well as a solid two-way game. In his previous 4 years(excluding the lockout shortened season) he has score 25+ goals and 60+ points, reaching the 70 point plateau three times. He should have no problems duplicating those numbers most likely playing alongside Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand.rn Along with the acquisition of Loui Eriksson, the Bruins made waves during the first day of free agency. They were able to snag coveted winger Jarome Iginla. With a club that lost veteran leadership in Ference, Horton, and Peverley, Jarome should help lessen the blow. At 36, Jarome still has enough left in the tank to produce at a high level. He will slide right into first line duty playing with Milan Lucic and David Krejci. rn While some may be disappointed in the departure of Seguin, it is important to know this team will be fine without him. He showed flashes of brilliance, but he was not going to become the leader of this organization. The Bruins were a Stanley Cup contender with him, and they will continue to be a contender without him.
thank you Boston,, Kessel is awsome
Ahhh gotta love a Leafs DERPPPP comment lol
Seguin did sort of look out of place on the Bruins. Great pickup in Eriksson.
I am excited to see Eriksson in the Bruins lineup. Will help in both the defensive and offensive zones.
Idiot leaf fan. We still won the trade. A Cup win in 2011 and Erickson and Hamilton together are better than Kessel. How many Cups for the leafs do you remember?
