This comes from me watching a recent NHL Network replay of the Leafs @ Bruins Game 7 aka "game of the year".***I was crushed..... Wow, I just got those chills again. But, as Leafs fans, we saw it coming. We've seen it before, too many times.WAIT A MINUTE... Who in the world had the Leafs winning this series? Back to the game 7 loss. You could just sense it, see it, feel it... UGH! Old habits I guess.... Leave the last 12 mins of the game alone for a second, we played an amazing game, (almost) perfect. We can blame anyone you want... Reimer, Phaneuf, Gunnarsson, Grabovski, Gardiner...etc.But still, there seemed to be no way to stop the Bruins.Looking back to game six, Lucic scored in the last minute and I'm willing to bet that if there were another minute or two left in that game, the series would have been over then. The Bruins are clutch and always will be. What gives them that edge though? THE EXPERIENCE!Look Leaf fans, we weren't going to win the Stanley Cup last year. We weren't going to make it to the finals, we probably would have beaten the Rangers but that's it.What did we learn? We learned that the Toronto Maple Leafs don't quit. Sh******t, we were down 3 games to 1 and earned Game 7. The character this team displayed makes me proud to be a Leaf fan. When was the last time you could say that? We finally have a team that is not only attractive on paper, but exciting and fun to watch. We work hard, we dig, we fight, we defend, and finally, in what feels like forever, we are not pretenders. We earned the playoffs and displayed all of the characteristics it takes to win in this league. This epic/historic/devastating/disgusting loss is a huge lesson that we needed to know in order to understand what it takes to win in the Stanley Cup Finals. We didn't give the game to Boston, they took it... we needed to see that, witness it and learn from it so that we know that you can not take your foot off the pedal... ever. Will the Leafs learn? YES.. WHY? Carlyle won't let them forget ************Crazy Optimism:Boston blew a 3-0 series lead to Philly in 2010 and won the Cup in 2011. Pittsburgh was embarrassed by the Red Wings in the Cup final in 2008 and won in 2009.The right balance is proven to win in this league... and I think we're pretty close.
