At the dawn of yet another preseason of Devils hockey, the Devils look to improve upon an injury riddled lockout shortened season. With both additions and subtractions at key positions predicting the success of the Devils will prove to be enigmatic. The big loss of the offseason is clearly Kovalchuck, while his goal scoring will be missed the Devils added a ton of depth and goal scoring in Jagr, and Ryder and replaced the grit and goal scoring of Clarkson with Ryan Clowe. Personally I see the Devils fighting for 5th or 6th in the newly realigned Eastern Conference, while most experts see them missing the playoffs for the second straight year. I believe the removal of Kovalchuck's salary is the key for recreating the Devils teams of the past that were balanced from top to bottom with no huge super stars. What do you think the best move of the offseason?
