The naming of Bill Guerin as captain of the Islanders today is great news to hear as an Islander fan. Not only does this give the isles a scrappy vet that will be a scoring prescence, but also a natural leader who will stick up for his teammates. It seems apparent that this team is finally heading in the right direction in the years since the Yashin, Osgood, and Peca days. Although we were all shocked to hear about #94 leaving Islander country, the managemnet has found a way to put a gritty, "Nolan-type" team together that i am very excited to see come October. The addition of Mike Comrie, a creative center that can skate and fight, and is still looking to prove himself. Jon Sim, you may not know very well of him but he reminds me of Jason Blake when he first came to L.I.. Ruslan Fedetenko is known for his clutch playoff scoring and i think that he will use his probable increased ice time to show his goal scoring ability.
The main point of what the Islanders have accomplished - A FRESH START.
No more Yashin' Bashin'.Put your "Mad Mike" signs away. This is a new team. A team that all Islander fans can root for. "The Boys" as Garth Snow calls them.
There were once some good ol' boys on LI.
And we all remember what happened with that team..........
After losing Smyth AND Blake(I really didn't care about getting Blake back) I must say, I was VERY disappointed in where this off-season was headed, but, if the rumors are true and we're actually close to completing a deal for Ed Jovanoski, then I could actually see us improving on last years record. we may not score as much but i think we'll more of a Devils type team as long as long as Ricky can progress on last season.Go Isles Go!
what could the isles have to offer in a trade, other than top prospect, Kyle Okospo? Garth said he would not deal him.
