Hello Hockey Buzz community! I would just like to take this first post heading into the Olympic break to introduce myself to the fans, devoted readers, and hockey enthusiasts.
A quick hockey bio; my favorite player ever is a left wing from Sainte-Catherine, Quebec, Guillaume Latendresse, I am a lifelong fan of the Minnesota Wild and like most devoted fans, was a fan before 7-4-12... But anyways, I am relatively new to sports journalism, and as more blogs come out, I would like if any of the fans reading could comment anything I could improve on to make your reading experience as productive and informative as possible.
Now to
HOCKEY!
The Minnesota Wild have worked into their 'fun in the sun' much deservedly. At least for everyone but Nino Niederreiter, Mikael Granlund, Ryan Suter, and Zach Parise. In case you hadn't heard, Those four are headed to Sochi for a few weeks (Niederreiter - SUI, Granlund - FIN, Suter and Parise - USA).
Mikko Koivu was injured for the last month with an ankle injury, he was hoping to make it to Sochi, but he wasn't feeling 100%. I believe that is a good thing, when some people might disagree, he will be able to rest and regain his health back to before the injury, and he doesn't have the off chance on getting injured in a quest for a gold medal.
Speaking of injuries... I know it seems like the Wild has a lot of injuries right now, but that is right on par for how many they have had the last couple of seasons around this point. The bad thing is that they have affected our top performers and leaders. Koivu has been out for a month, Jared Spurgeon was out for just shy of a month, Parise was injured for roughly 3 weeks, and the first-half MVP of arguably the entire NHL, Josh Harding has been out since mid-December with further complications believed to stem from his battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Also, someone who is newly added to the injury list is Marco Scandella. Since finally finding how he can really play up to potential this season, he gets knocked out with a knee injury in Tuesday's game vs. the Tampa Bay Lightning.
On the bright side, your Wild hasn't taken a giant step back in the standings, and actually had one of their best months of hockey in a long time, going 9-3-1 in January. Darcy Kuemper has been the story of the success for this team in 2014. His record is 8-2-2 when starting 13 consecutive games since January 7th.
This ends my first post for [url]hockeybuzz.com, hope you enjoy and come back for more after the Olympic break. GO USA!
