So there has been a huge debate on whether or not people believe Vincent Levavalier can be traded. I think it is not unreasonable that teams would want him. He is still considered a second line center, he still can put up 20+ goals and rack up 50-60 points a season. Last Season with Philly was not as good as fans wanted. Lecavalier got off to a great start but had a back injury and his play dipped. Lecavalier is also a natural center and did not do well with the LW experiment. Lecavalier is playing on the 4th line with under 10 mins of ice time. To me that is an easy recipe for I will waive my NMC to go somewhere where I can play and worst case scenario the Flyers can keep 1.5 mill off the cap hit.
As for possible Destinations:
Anaheim: The Ducks are in the Market for a second line centerman. No doubt they are looking into Kesler but they might not like his price. However there are some choices for them. You have David Legwand, Ollie Jokinen and Mikhail Grabovski. There is also the prospect of M.Richards being bought out.
Colorado: If Colorado loses Paul Stastny to free agency then Colorado would be in the market for a 2nd line centerman. Colorado is a speed team so Vinny might not fit the mold but they could use a veteran guy like him in the playoffs.
Dallas: They are definitely in the hunt for a 2nd line center, I would list Dallas as the team most likely to take Lecavalier. Cody Eakin played on the 2nd line last season and proved he could not handle that role yet. They will be looking for a guy who can win faceoffs and score goals and take some pressure off of Seguin and Benn.
Florida: I am not really sure Florida is a team he would waive his NMC for but maybe he would like to return to the state of Florida and there he could possibly get top line minutes. I think it comes down to, does he want to play or does he want to win?
Nashville: They are in the market for a center as well, however I think they are going for a guy like Spezza or Stastny who can play on the top line, however they might have to settle for the next best thing if they strike out on those guys. Again not sure Vinny waives for Nashville but he would get the ice time he wants there and they aren't too far away from a playoff team.
St.Louis: I think this would be a good fit personally. Vinny is not the fastest skater and the Blues are not a speedy team. They are a puck possession team and they are in the market for a 2nd line center.
Tampa Bay: I hear rumours about him going back to Tampa, however I find it hard to see him replacing Tyler Johnson or Filppula. I say this is just as unlikely as him to Florida but not impossible.
Washignton: This is a team that should be in the market for a 2nd line center. Right now they have Jay Beagle slotted into the 2nd line and that just isn't going to be good enough. Rumour is they want Grabovski back but there is no telling if he will sign back with the Capitals.
Where do you think Vinny goes and what do you think the Flyers will receive in return?
I think people are underestimating the package we could put together for Nashville. I think it would be reasonable for the following to happen:Option1: Vinny, Hartnell (waives his NTC to go back to Nville), Grossman or Akeson and this years first for Seth JonesOption 2: Vinny, Harts and Grossman for Roman Jossi
juiced: you have got to be kidding me...you really think Nashville would take 2 well past their prime forwards a slow defenseman coming off ankle surgery a career minor leaguer who played a few good games in one round of the playoffs and a bottom half first rounder for possibly the best under 20 Dman in the league.....DELUSIONAL!
As a Flyers fan in what dilusional world do you live in juice???? I cant imagine anyone taking that pacakage and expecting to get anything in return. I agree with did109!!!!!
Hey juiced (Im guessing way too many roids)...how about from TB Malone/Salo for Voracek???? Sounds about as fair as your package for Jossi....
@did109 Two players who scored 20 goals and 50 points on a consistent basis past their prime?
Why do I keep getting SQL error when posting?
@Shoot4War look at their cap hits and money owed over period of time....
@Juiced.....are you retarded?
Yes I did and it is lower than Carter, Elias, Parise Koivu..... All thes players hit under 59 points
Duchene MacKinnon OReilly means that Stastny is not a 2nd line center nor is Colorado in the market for one.
The Seth Jones thing was silly, but thats just how some Flyer fans think. We over value our players and undervalue other teams guys. Anyway, I do have a question on the topic maybe someone might know the answer. I know that with the new CBA, you can retain up to 50% of the money involved. However, are you only allowed to retain up to 50% of the cap hit as well? For example, can the Flyers trade Vinny to Florida hypothetically, a team who has plenty of cap space for a midround draft pick, retain the max 50% of the actual salary, but then transfer the full 4.5 million cap hit to them? Or would it at best be half the cap hit?
@thirstyfin Mackinnon and Orielly both played Wing last season. Stasny was the Avs top line Center as well.... He centered Landeskog and Mackinnon
I could see the Ducks taking Vinny if the Flyers were able to take back $1 mil of his salary and Philly takes back Luca Sbisa.
