The Nashville Predators are hands down the NHL’s best team this season. Expecting to make a deep playoff run, the Predators decided to be buyers on the trade market. The Predators acquired two of their former draftees from the Toronto Maple Leafs, Cody Franson and Mike Santorelli. Franson was selected in the 3rd round by Nashville in 2005 and Santorelli in the 6th round in 2004. Both guys are veterans, who greatly improve Nashville’s chances of possibly bringing home their first Stanley Cup. The Predators traded struggling Olli Jokinen, prospect Brendan Leipsic, and a 2015 1st round pick. The Predators definitely came out and won this trade, taking advantage a gag-inducing Maple Leafs team. Franson and Santorelli were two dim lights in an otherwise dark Leafs squad. Now, Santorelli and Franson will get to be part of what could be a historic playoff run.
