The Penguins have made their first real trade since the Goc deal back in January as we approach the March trade deadline. The Pens acquired Maple Leafs forward Daniel Winnik for Zach Sill and a couple draft picks.
The picks are a 2015 fourth-rounder and a 2016 second-rounder.
Winnik, who isn't known as an offensive star, is an effective forechecker, is versatile, and can kill penalties.
He leads all NHL forwards with 3:27 shorthanded minutes a game.
The forward has 25 points in 58 games this season in Toronto, a considerable upgrade on the offensive side from Sill, who has only three points in 42 games, mostly on the fourth line.
Winnik is expected to play on the third or fourth line. He led Toronto forwards with 50 blocked shots and was ranked third with 99 hits.
