Claude Julien praying for Don Sweeney

Cam Neely addressed the media yesterday from TD Garden. Just a mere few hours of delivering the news that longtime General Manager, Peter Chiarelli, had been fired from the Boston Bruins.
The main topic of the press conference was the future of Claude Julien. Claude has been the head coach in Boston since 2007, and this season was the first time the Bruins had missed the postseason under his control.
Is it fair to consider firing Julien? After all he's done for the team, and success that he's brought them? The answer is simple- it's a big no. However, things are not that simple in Boston anymore. The fans in the city would have killed for a 96-point season after the 2006-2007 season. But, Julien has risen the bar so high now that anything less than a finish at the top of the conference will be heavily criticized.
Now, Boston has parted ways with their GM of the past nine seasons. What's to become of Claude?
Most likely the Bruins will end up moving on from Claude if their next GM is brought in from outside the organization. Cam Neely told the media on Wednesday, that whether Julien stays or goes will indeed be the call of the next Bruins GM. Typically, when someone is brought in to run a team from outside the organization they want their own guys running the show.
Luckily, for Claude, Don Sweeney is a likely candidate to replace Chiarelli. Sweeney is currently the teams Assistant General Manager. If Sweeney gets the nod to take the helm of the Bruins, many feel Julien will be safe.....for at least one more season.
