NHL Mock Draft 2015 (6-10)

A few days ago, I wrote my first entry on ‘My hockeybuzz blog’ . I am still not certain how all this works, I’ll get the hand of it someday. This post is the continuation of my last post ‘2015 NHL Mock Draft (Top5). Here’s picks 6 to 10:
6. NJD: Pavel Zacha, Forward. This is a bit of a stretch to say the least, the Devils are in a hole. With many impact players departing from their 2012 Stanley Cup final team such as Ilya Kovalchuk, Zach Parise, David Clarkson (Impact player at the time...) and many others slowing down the Devils haven’t had much luck. Now missing the playoffs 3 years in a row, the Devils should start thinking about a rebuild. They haven’t brought in many young players to replace those leaving. In recent years, they haven’t had much success drafting forwards, while they have added many good young defenseman such as Eric Gelinas, Jon Merril, Damon Severson and Adam Larsson. In the 2013 draft, the Devils held the 9th overall pick, they had a chance to draft a good young forward but instead went to trade the pick for Goalie Cory Schneider. The move was a bold one to say the least but it looks like it was a good one, Schneider has played great considering the amount of talent up front, and he has given them the opportunity to win games. With only a handful of decent prospects in the system, the Devils need to add and develop many young players. Pavel Zacha is expected to go anywhere around 10th overall. At 6th, it might be a little high, but he is the player the Devils organisation could use building a solid young core.
7. PHI: Lawson Crouse, Left Wing. He is the type of player the Flyers organisation love. Big power forwards are always welcomed in Philadelphia (They should be welcomed pretty much anywhere for that matter). Even though the Flyers have bigger needs on defense, they have drafted a couple of young defenders in the past 2 drafts including Sam Morin, Travis Sanheim and Robert Hagg. Crouse could develop into a much needed top 6 wingers to a system that lacks of them.
8. CBJ: Ivan Provorov, Dman. The Blue Jackets have lacked of luck this season. If it weren’t for all those injuries, they would most likely be enjoying a nice to trip to the playoffs. The Blue Jackets have a good amount of good young forwards in the system such as Alex Wennberg, Marko Dano, Oliver Bjorkstrand, Kerby Rychel and Sonny Milano. They seem to lack some depth on defense. They do have young Dman’s such as Ryan Murray and David Savard on the team, they could use a player like Provorov in their system.
9. SJS: Matthew Barzal, Center. With all of their core players aging, the Sharks need to start bringing young talent for the future. Joe Thornton, Patrick Marleau, Joe Pavelski and Brent Burns are all in their 30s. The Sharks, failing to make the playoffs this year, should try to rebuild or at least try to’remodel’ their roster. They have many young players in the system such as Tomas Hertl, Mirco Mueller and Nikolai Goldobin. Adding Barzal to that core would be great.
10. COL: Zach Werenski, Dman. Duchene, Landeskog, O’Reilly and Mackinnon are amazing players! But they can’t play every position alone. The Avs went on a fairy tale run in the 2013-14 season but this year their gasping holes on the backend were apparent. Other then studs Tyson Barrie and Erik Johnson, the Avs don’t have any more top 4 Dman’s. They have a few in the system such as Chris Bigras and Duncan Siemens, picking up Werenski can only help.

Good review. I feel though the Flyers may take Provorov because of the possibility to play right away and use their second pick in the first round to draft a forward especially if Tampa loses to Detroit.
Decent, But I highly doubt Zacha goes that high. I think Barzal and Provorov both go before he does.
