The Edmonton Oilers have a sick amount of talent up front. They aren't too shabby defensively prospect wise, goaltending is a total question mark. The have Ben Scrivens signed till next season other then that not much NHL potential. Still, Scrivens is a 1B G at best.
Potential Lineup:
Hall-RNH-Eberle
Drasaitl-McDavid-Yakupov
Pouliot-Lander-Purcell
Hendricks-Gordon-Pitlick
This offensive group is excellent. Perhaps add one bottom 6 Two Way player.
Klefbom-Schultz
Ference-Nurse
Marincin-Nikitin
Fayne
Questions marks on defence, would need one top 4 veteran Dman to make this group decent.
???????
Scrivens
Scrivens is an above average backup and can probably give you 30-35 games.
Who are the targets ?
Sharks G Niemi is an upcoming UFA, he could be signed to a 3 year deal at around 4mil.
The Senators could move Anderson or Lehner.
Tampa's Vasilevsky, but the price may be quite high, would need to include a 1st rounder + a young player.
Anaheim's John Gibson.
St Louis' Brian Elliot.
Ranger's Talbot.
The most likely seems to be Niemi as he could be had for nothing on the UFA market. The question remains, can the Oilers be a playoff team with a Niemi-Scrivens duo ?
