Every GM would trade for Vinny Lecavalier...in a heartbeat...probably including Edmonton Oilers GM Kevin Lowe. But this blog isn't about Mr. Lecavalier and his sniping ways it's about Tampa Bay's other Vinny...as in Vaclav Prospal.
The Oilers desperately need some true top-6 talent and the Tampa Bay Lightning could use a little wiggle room from under the crushing weight of the Big 3 salaries + Dan Boyle and his no-trade clause.
Edmonton could really use a forward like Vaclav Prospal. Prospal can line up at either LW or C and would be a natural linemate for young Ales Hemsky. Perhaps the same kind of chemistry that was generated when the Minnesota Wild traded for Pavol Demitra to play with Marian Gaborik could be had between Prospal and Hemsky?
TSN's player profile of Prospal reads: "Sees the ice very well and gets the puck to an open man effectively. Plays intense hockey and doesn't back down from a physical challenge. Can line up at both left wing or center."
Well, what's not to like about a guy like that?!? Even MacT might want him...!
Edmonton desperately needs someone that can line up at left wing on the first line since you-know-who (the mullet-man) passed on returning Lowe's phone call on July 1st.
At least a Prospal-Horcoff-Hemsky first line might work until another trade can be made later in the season.
I see Raffi Torres going the other way...
