Monday Dec. 14 The Bolts headed into Columbus to take on the similarly slumping Jackets after a 2-1 regulation loss Saturday night.
The Bolts have had their share of poor luck with injuries and at some point it's expected that the luck has to play in their favor. And on multiple instances that is what they got down around their net.
5 minutes in the luck starts as we see Saad with a golden oppurtunity alone in front of the net who manages to beat Bishop and sets it down in the crease for Jenner, but the defense recovers in time and clears the puck away.
The luck continues on and in the second period and we see the young gun
Marchessault receive a turnover from Jackets Center Wennberg and wastes no time beating Korpisalo.
Moving to the third period we see
Hedman generating the turnover in the defensive zone on a PK that leads to
Killorn and
Boyle on a 2-on-1 giving Boyle his
eighth on the year
And again with 2 minutes left we see a mad scramble that sees the puck all but entirely pass the goal line, with which we see a controversial issue with Namestikov placing his hand over the puck to move it off. The ref states the whistle was blown beforehand and we remain up 1.
Lastly it's worth mentioning that
Hedman put up
6 shots to the teams 2nd highest which was tied by Kucherov, Callahan, and Brown at 3.
Moving to tonight versus the Leafs
Tonight we will see 2 goaltenders whom just recently returned from stints in the AHL.
Vasilevskiy went down and played one game on Dec 12th ironically against the Marlies in a losing effort which saw him stop 34 of 38. Could he be sparked for vengeance tonight?
Bernier was sent down for a 10 day conditioning stint after a dismal start to the season going 0-8-1. The stint saw him put up a 3-0-1 record with a 1.25 GAA and a .948 SV%.

Given the hype surrounding Stamkos potentially becoming a Leaf, which I would prefer to ignore until it is written and signed by Stamkos himself, and his recent scoreless drought we should expect to see him show us something through his play tonight. Ideally I'd like to see him end this scoreless drought and help this team earn a big 2 points in what has been a tough year in the Atlantic division so far.
