Making a case for Iiro Pakarinen being the GOAT is like (frank)ing Wreckage's mom; very easy.
Where to begin? At the age of 26, Iiro Pakarinen has had a successful career posting 23 points in 128 games. Now one could look at me and say "what are you talking about, those stats are awful", and from a statistical standpoint you may be right, but here's what he has: heart.
How many players can say they injured their knee and came back? Not very many. How many players can say that they've been sent to the AHL and still make it back to the big leagues? Not very many. Who else in Edmonton, or hell, the entire league has that kind of heart? Not many I can tell you that much right now.
Even McDavid doesn't have that type of heart. Sure he posts big numbers, but in reality, where does that get him? Nowhere. Sure he has won the Art Ross but where has that gotten him? Thirteen playoff games where he wasn't even point per game! He in actuality was carried by Iiro "friggin" Pakarinen.
As for his Corsi numbers, man are his numbers they ever great. His average Corsi throughout his career is 46.7%, which may seem awful but let's not forget that Kris Russell is the greatest defenseman in the league and all the stupid corsi lovers out there doubted him and now he's tied in points for defenseman on the Oilers with the oh so beloved Oscar Klefboner.
I can't forget to mention that he was picked 184th overall in the 2011 draft. Many teams passed up on him because they could not comprehend his greatness. He still has plenty of potential to become the all time leader in points, goals and assists. Soon enough we shall see number 26 retired in the rafters due to the fact that he is so great. If he were to play with Connor McDavid, McDavid would not carry the play, it would be Iiro Pakarinen, the best right wing in the game and perhaps all time due to his heart and his great Corsi numbers.
So a comptent 3rd liner? Nah, he's the greatest of all time.
