I'm not a hockey insider. I'm a fan. I don't understand or pay attention to the advanced analytical stats. I watch/play hockey for fun and enjoy it for what it is, a sport (but I am not naive that it is a business too). rnrnNHL '94 may be the greatest sports game ever created. rnrnIt is unbelievable that there has not been a CBJ blog on here since October of last year. rnrnLet's take these in order points in order:rn
I'm not a hockey insider. I'm a fan.rnI don't get calls from sources, never talked to Jarmo and don't know much about the CBJ prospects. Before kids (7 years ago) my wife and I had season tickets. My beer league team has played 2 games in Nationwide Arena. rnrn

I watch/play hockey for fun and enjoy it for what it is, a sport (but I am not naive that it is a business too).rnIt's not that I couldn't understand advanced stats, I just don't have the time to over-analyse stats that your average hockey fan has little/no knowledge of. I do play (poorly, on a 'D' beer league team), but never had any aspirations of making any team other than beer league. This means I know most of the lingo, can hold my own when talking hockey with even your most knowledgeable fan and can watch a game both for enjoyment and technically. rnrn

It is unbelievable that there has not been a CBJ blog on here since October of last year.rnHere are the top 3 reasons I find this unbelievable:rnrn1. They are #3 in their division, #5 in their conference and #10 in the league (as of 3:32 pm 1/23/19. According to the world wide leader in sports the CBJ are #10 in power rankings. My point is that they are relevant and have been for the past couple of year. However, I do understand like every Jacket fan, we will not be taken seriously until we win a playoff series. rnrn2. They have a great core of players. Forget for now Bob and Bread. Cam and Jones are legit All-Stars, and should be for years to come. Ten players could end up scoring 20+ goals this season. Cam (thru 2025), Josh Anderson (RFA in 2020), P-L Dubois (RFA in 2020), Jones (thru 2022) and Werenski (RFA 2020) could all be together on this team for the next 5+ years.rnrn3. Two of the most talked about potential trade deadline pieces to be moved reside on this team. Bobrovsky has been great for the CBJ. Two time Vezina winner. All-Star. Best goalie in Jackets history. All true. Also true: Numbers are down, play has been suspect, attitude in the tank (suspended recently). Panarin is not discussing contracts with the CBJ. He wants to be in the spotlight of a huge hockey market. Neither seems to be interested in staying with the team after this season. With the recent play of Korpi, it seems Bob's days are numbered in the C-Bus. Is Panarin the Columbus version of Tavares? The difference is that the CBJ are in the playoffs (at least as of now) and NYI missed the playoffs by 17 points. If Columbus was to get a rental player at the deadline, how much would they have to give up to get a player the caliber of Panarin. Better question, would a player with the talent of Bread be available, even as a rental, at the trade deadline?rn
I am also a hockey fan and I am thinking about opening coaching business for aspiring hockey players.
