It's a testament to the drafting of the Canucks to get Calder nominees in 3 consecutive seasons without a first overall or even a top 3 pick.
It's the first time this has happened in the post 67' expansion era and the first time in over 50 years.
Also, the Canucks are the first team in the expansion era to have a Calder nominee in 3 straight years with at least one win.
Boeser at number 23, 2015
Pettersson at number 5, 2017
Hughes at number 7, 2018
They have two more high profile rookies coming on the scene in the next few years that could be in contention for some hardware.

If those two work out as hoped, the Canucks will have a nice problem to have figuring out how to keep them all for more than a few seasons together...

Pittsburgh had 3 nominees in 2 years in 2005/06-2006/07: Malkin, Staal, Crosby
Chicago had 3 nominees in 4 years in 1987/88-1990/91: Pang, Roenick, Belfour
Since the Avs first season in Colorado ('95-'96) they've had 3 players win (Drury, Landeskog, and MacKinnon) and if Makar wins this year it'll be their 4th. No other team has more than 2 since then.
Also, Peter Forsberg won it with the Nordiques in '95 (the year before they became the Avalanche), and since '96 Hejduk, Stastny and Duchene have been finalists.
